This was fun to do, and I'm happy that I actually like it.

He is more intelligent than that. Some memories that the normal form has he remembers, so he knows she's not a threat, and that she is his mate. He can understand the things she says, too.
He also listens to her when she doesn't want to mate, but he doesn't listen to her when she tells him he can't mate with any other female. That's not fair for him, so he'll just do what he likes, while his normal form will listen through and through... for the most part.
Also, her smell is familiar as well as her voice, so that helps as well. His eyesight isn't that strong.
(if he could talk, he'd speak just fine, but with how his mouth is shaped he can't talk. It would sound like a dog trying to talk. lol)
