Maunzi shuddered and huddled over the kitten in her lap. Her face was soaked... rain mixing with the tears rolling from her eyes. Her ears flicked and wilted again, the goldenbrown cat breaking down in sobs herself at the soft whimpered mewl the kitten let out. It cut right through her heart, releasing every single memory of that black day, when she had to let him go... She huddled even more over the kitten in her lap, pressing him tightly against herself as she sat on the soaked pavement, rocking back and forth slowly while the rain beat down upon them. "Ssssshhh... mommy is here..." she choked softly between her own sobs.

I was commissioned not long ago to draw a scene from a story by Zinzoline. Illustrating Maunzi meeting her son Frost for the first time since she gave him up for adoption. The scene here is just before the text I have included. I thought this scene was so so touching. <3
