Changing of royal guards at Gyeongbok Palace 1
Today, I went to National Palace Museum located within the Gyeongbok Palace complex to see their special exhibition on Kingdom of Ryukyu. Alas, I forgot that museums closed on mondays.
Thus, I decided to see the change of royal guards at Gwanghwa gate, then visit Bukchon district instead. Following photos are those I took while watching the change of guards.
Since I did not take much photos, they fail to depict the entire process. I believe this footage on YouTube depicts it better. Also, if you are interested, compare it with the footage of the changing of royal guards at Deoksu Palace, which is reenactment of late Joseon Dynasty ceremony, unlike early Joseon Dynasty version performed in Gyeongbok Palace.
In this photo, the bands are entering the courtyard between Gwanghwa Gate and Heungnye Gate through Hyeopsaeng Gate.
