Decided to upload this. I was looking through a folder full of old stuff and found the manuscript of this piece I had forgotten I wrote about 9 years ago now, I was still in high school. The school choir actually performed this. I quickly put the first half of it into Sibelius to produce this sound file. I am probably going to redo this piece with some very major changes because I like some of what I did in this. In its current form it is very weak and uninteresting in comparison to what I can do now with a piece of music and I will be doing just that.
The piece itself was actually a love note to someone. The lyrics were a description of her beauty and a sort of series of questions I pose, "What is in your soul? What makes your day brighter? A lake? A river? A White Fir? A Live Oak? Whatever you please I want to know." The moment toward the end with the piano flourish where the soprano sings a major 5th (Eb to Bb at 1:42) is a climatic moment that says "It's you, my love." I'm going to get help with the lyrics of it though since while I've gotten better at writing them, I'm still not that great at it.
Anyway, enjoy everyone!
