The Rooster and the Hen
By Pencilman
(A big rooster Yay!)
~This is not only a new character, but a reference to an old folk tale called "The Rooster and the Hen". It's origin is from Albania Folklore, it is about two old people, who are neighbors. The old man ,once a day, asks the old woman for an egg and she refuses each time. He asks his rooster if their is any way of making an egg to feed him or making him wealthy. The rooster gets an idea and rushes over to the castle an starts crowing. The King gets so annoyed, he orders one of his servants to lock the rooster in the treasury. The rooster then eats some of the gold coins in the treasury. Next the rooster pretends to be dead so the servant can throw him outside to the trash. The rooster then rushes over to the old man and asks him to shake him upside down. Gold coins fall out as soon as he does. The old man is happy, but the old woman is not. She than tries to ask for a gold coin but the old man, remembering all the times he asked her for stuff, refuses. The hen , wanting to please her mistress, asks the rooster how to lay gold coins for her master. The rooster says to the hen to "eat a snake so you may lay gold coins". The hen eagerly goes the forest and does so. And when the hen came back, telling the old woman to shake her upside down so gold coins will come out. She does... but instead of gold coins, it was a snake. Which bites and then eats her.
What an ending!

This was one of my favorite stories when growing up, surprisingly their were other books with different endings.
As for this character, I think I will call him Delmon.
Hope you like!
