its the scent that lures other creatures to you so they can become infatuated with you. It has to do with , as he said, pheremones in the body, which work off scent and hormones in your body getting triggered to certain situations. Look at animals, its how they sometimes find mates in the wild, if they're like 'this one doesnt smell as sexy D: but this one does!' boom, now they're making babies.

This isn't always how it goes, i've known a lot of people (usually femmy dudes) who are repulsed by it, lol. Though every single person DOES have a different type of musk, its literally your own personal cologne. So ..yeah. there more you know

And regarding your question... musk smells different depending whos it from, and depends a lot on diet (lots of junk food and grease make it smell rank, and lots of fruits and vegetables make it more mild and pleasant), mood, health, age, and other factors, and it also smells different its from arousal, or nervousness, or even fear, some of that almost lost non verbal animal communication still left in us haha

And yeah musk has pheromones in it, which are there for the purpose of attracting possible mates ;3 "love at first sniff" lol in humans musk ONLY is produced in the armpits, genitalia, and... nipples apparently >.> but I've never perceived any scent from nipples ever hahaha, alot of furs say musk also includes feet, hair, breath, and such but no, thats just stink since it has no pheromones in it. Also another misinformation widely spread is that sweat=musk which it doesnt, and in fact smell quite different, I love musk but hate the smell of sweat, so the "armpit stink" most ppl associate is that of sweat not actual musk. If you wanna find out how your musk smells ;3 before going to bed just take a shower and scrub your armpits with a scrub/cloth and hot water to get rid of deodorant residue but try not to use soap unless its unscented or otherwise that would mess up your scent, and obviously dont put on any deodorant after. Then in the morning when you wake up, you can paw off and try to fantasize a lot on things that turn you on the most, and after a good pawing session you should get a bit musky ;3 and that should be just musk without the nasty smell of sweat. Or if you can... paw of before sleeping and when you wake up X3, some of the musk I enjoy the most is that in the morning after a night of sex or a very long pawing -///-

Well I got curious about it since I really liked it and seemed "odd" compared to the norm and searched around to find a reason for it and saw it had to do with pheromones and such XD there's a pretty good number of furs who like it though, guess for the more animally inclined hahaha idk
