Here's a song that I adapted for
hollyfox
It's adapted from "In My Merry Oldsmobile," written by Gus Edwards and Vincent Bryan, C. 1905. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7QnPtkn8q0
Young Valve Cruso has a Model T
He loves his dear little girl
She is the queen of his gas machine
She has his heart in a whirl
Now when they go for a spin, you know,
She tries to learn the auto, so
He lets her steer, while he gets her ear
And whispers soft and low...
Come away with me, Holly
In my merry Model T
Down the road of life we'll fly
Automobubbling, you and I
To the church we'll swiftly steal
Then our wedding bells will peal
You can go as far as you like with me
In my merry Model T.
They love to "spark" in the dark old park
As they go flying along
She says she knows why the motor goes
The "sparker" is awfully strong
Each day they "spoon" to the engine's tune
Their honeymoon will happen soon
He'll win Holly with his Model T
And then he'll fondly croon...
Come away with me, Holly
In my merry Model T
Down the road of life we'll fly
Automobubbling, you and I
To the church we'll swiftly steal
Then our wedding bells will peal
You can go as far as you like with me

I looked up that song on YouTube, and downloaded a few of the videos. Now I want to find a record of that song. I already have the Victrola--well, it's not an actual Victrola (TM), but you know how that is used as a word for any clockwork-driven record player. It's a product of the Swanson Consolidated Talking Machine Co. Not sure how old it is, but I think it's been about a hundred years since they were called "talking machines", right?
I also have a Philco vacuum-tube AM radio/record player with a three-speed turntable. Both of these things work.
I'll post pictures of them sometime, when I can pose with them in fursuit.
OH--BY THE WAY--remember when I asked what caused old radios to hum? You said it was the filter cap. Well, replacement filter capacitors can be rather expensive, but I discovered that if you remove the old capacitor, soak it in water overnight, then let it sit for a few days, it's good as new again! I did this with another tube radio that hummed EVEN WORSE than the Philco, and bingo! Saved myself at least $40! Of course, this only works with cardboard-shelled capacitors, and I wouldn't do it with a radio that has a metal body.
