Another '07 Leadville pic.
This picture was taken at the end of the Mount Massive ride that Keeley and I took. We do NOT take customers on this ride. The reason for this is the ride is almost entirely straight up and down. even though the trail was rated category 1 for the most part and bits of it were category 2 on the hiking trail index it is just a little to much for the majority of the people we take on rides.
So origianly the owner of the mules was going to go riding with us be she had to go back home to Indiana to deal with a family emergency. In the end Keely and I rode the mountain by ourselves. We saw the WhatTheFuckIsIt creature also known as a marmot or whistle pig. Then of course we saw the other side of the mountain. For those of you who are wondering I will be uploading that one as well.
Fun Mount Massive Statistics
Altitude - 14,421 feet
Second highest in Colorado.
Third highest in the lower 48.
Only 19 feet lower then Mt. Elbert it's neighbor.
Edges out Mt. Harvard for third by just a foot.
Largest mountain in volume in the lower 48.
5 summits about 14,000 on a 3 mi long range.
More area above 14,000 then any other in the lower 48.
Makes up most of the western skyline around Leadville, CO.
(Yes I chose species as Horse that was only because they do not list Mule and a mule is technically half horse anyway)
