ONCE UPON A TIME, many many many years before the events of Grady Bay, there was a really racist human man who decided to piss off a lion-woman. The lion-woman happened to be a witch, and she cursed him so that his future offspring would be lion-people like her.
He had two sons, and both were born as lion-boys. He refused to believe in the curse, and blamed his wife for cheating on him with a lion-man (which actually did happen, but was not the reason she had lion-babies, the curse was). They abandoned the two boys, and the witch-lion-woman took them in.
The lion-woman was old and actually not that great of a witch. She died of old age after a few years, and the curse kinda broke. The boys were still technically lion-boys, but they suddenly had the power to change back into humans.
The town then decided they were demon offspring of the witch, and treated them like trash, so they ran off into the jungle and grew up like Tarzan.
Ajaqon, the bigger one, decided to try and go back to the village once he was an adult, and by way of proving himself, was accepted back as a normal person.
He then tried to go back and convince Dejaqesh to come back as well, and Dejaqesh reluctantly agreed. However, he enjoyed being referred to as a demon, so he acted like one, and continued his savage ways. The people didn't like that, but they couldn't run him out of the town because they liked his brother.
Their posterity got to keep their powers, and that is where that particular type of shapeshifter came from.
Dejaqesh happens to be one of Lenny's ancestors, which is why Lenny has both a lion form and a human form (which I basically never draw woops), and is why they look sorta similar. He also has a different set of shapeshifting on top of that (the one where he can become anything he can visualize), which does not come from this story.

I was bored, okay? XD
I was looking at my old art of Dejaqesh from when I was going to use him as an Ifrit Barbarian for a D&D campaign (which didn't happen after all, haha), and I decided to play around with him a little and see what I could do with him.
I decided to design another human dude at the same time, and Ajaqon was born.
And then, sudden inspiration struck, and I decided to make them into lion-shapeshifters for the heck of it, and stuck the backstory on for fun.
I may end up scrapping it later, as it's actually kinda corny and stupid, but it was fun, and now I have two new characters I can draw. :D Other than Ajaqon's lion face looks REALLY STUPID so if I scrap it, he'll just stay human.
