
This loverly woman was hanging out near the cabin we were in. I have always been in love with this group of spiders. the black and yellow markings are wonderful. You may notice off to a side is a Very Small Spider on her web. just a speck off to the right i believe. bright body little dark legs. Yeah thats the guy. they live on the web of the female and try real hard not to be eaten. they also sneak meals when the much bigger female eats. I did not even realize he was there til i was looking at the shots i got later.

nope. they have slimmer bodies and more yellow. around here they refer to them as garden Spiders even though other orb weavers seem to be more abundant. these ones really stand out.

brown european garden spiders. which i have all ove my porch but they are not very diurnal so it is hard to get a good shot of one

strangely i am exactly the opposite. i had a rose haired tarantula long ago and it would escape it's enclosure all the time (which i cannot figure out since it was a heavy metal screen on a all glass enclosure held on with rubber bands strong enough to fuck me up when i took them off for feeding) and it would climb on my face at night. that made me fear them but smaller spiders still hold a great fascination for me
