I really think you're being paranoid about the comparison because she seems to fully stand on her own. However, it's good to know there are artists who are as keen on being original as you are. I think we all have our influences, but your character definately stands on her own.

I guess it's better to be paranoid. I have my reasons.

To be honest your style looks nothing like disney!
Disney is very rounded, you tend to have angels and show more bone (if that makes any sence). I honestly way purrfer your since they look like cats and you don't put over the top human eye brows on them.

But that's my opinion.
I love seeing your character sheets, I can't wait to see the full project! =)

I have to say I agree fully with FinalFlight and WingedSiamese. I've always loved your style and how you give each of your characters different physical features to go along with their personality traits. (such as: Sabre looks a lot sharper then Cora. More masculine, shall we say; meanwhile Cora looks a lot softer and more feminine. I don't really see a big similarity between Cora and Nala. Oh yes, because Nala's markings are oh-so unique, therefore no other characters can have pale, creamy under-neck markings? Shhhshh...That's ridiculous. Plus, your style is very much different from that of Disney's TLK style, the faces especially. Your style is so much more detailed, showing musculature and such. There will always be petty people nitpicking things and trying to make your life harder, it doesn't mean they're right. You needn't worry so much, Cora. I can easily recognize your character and style from anything TLK-ish.

I still stand by what I originally said on your LJ with the Cora/Sabre piccie hun. Your style is distinctly different, and ironically much more realistic while still managing to be "cartoonish."

It must be annoying as hell to get compared to Disney-style when yours is so distinctly your own. Those who blindly copy Disney characters tend to draw atrocious anatomy and critters that only vaguely resemble the animals they're supposed to be -- but I had her pegged as a puma before even seeing the full-view.

I'm a lot less defensive than I used to be and this is good and bad. I'm not a hothead but I can seem to be a doormat.

In any case I think I've started to get a bit more solid in terms of defending my... oh... 10+ years dedicated to feline construction and deconstruction?

I'm happy where I am now though. Surround with artists such as you and others who know what a cougar is.

Okay, I just can repeat myself: Don't worry about people who can't differ between a Snow Leopard and a Lion in real life. For people who do not have an artists eye even a skunk and a ringtailed lemur look the same (no joke, I am often at the Zoo... ask MehdiX she was there when people in front of the Ringtailed Lemur enclosure told their children they were skunks)

Sooo....
The only thing which is a little similiar are the proportions (extreme long body compared to a big cat) and the low forehead. I will eat you if you change that just because of an internet weirdo, that is what I like about your character most because it makes it look elegant and female.
