This is a nice shot of one of my Anam Stick Insects. this is the biggest one. and well she photographs well. Interesting thing about them is they do not need to have males to have babies. they lay eggs parthenogenicaly which is to say they make clones of themselves. however unlike many species that seem to be born pregnant like say Black Mollies that have very few males and can indeed steal DNA from other species that they "mate" with this is mostly a stop gap measure in the Stick Insects from what i have gathered. evidently they hide so well they can barely find each other so rather than have a generation die off from not finding a mate they lay clones so they can have a better chance of spreading out and finding males to make those gene transfers. i guess they get a little odd after so many clone cycles.
However Her she is in all her clone glory (as she only had a mother and had been adopted by me this summer from someone that had bought the original) i think she looks kinda like the cloverfield monster in the face at least.. why those jaws of hers make short work of oak leaves
