finally with a last unearthly shriek, the portal closed. collapsing into itself, it began to fade and disappear from the sky and not a moment to soon either. sheathing the blade, Sekra took a moment to look at the aftermath of the small carnage. the four heroines had fought surprisingly well, given their inexperience with this type of new foe. however they hadn't left the battle unscathed. each and everyone one of them was covered in bruises, cuts and even small burns. none of them had expected this kind of battle. true, Sekra didn't leave the battle unscathed as well but at least he was experienced enough to minimize the damage. he winced slightly as he saw the wolfess in the black and yellow outfit limp slightly.
"well, i'm glad that's over" he spoke softly to break the silence and immediately fell all eyes on him once more. seemed that for a moment they had all but forgotten about him. he smiled softly and nodded. "you fought well. you have my respect" he began "but i think you'd be more interested in an explanation on what's going on, aren't you?" none of the heroines answered and they didn't need to. the frown on the wolfess with the red and black outfit was answer enough. he looked at her and couldn't help but chuckle softly. there was something about that expression of hers...
he looked around briefly and sighed. the rooftop was a mess. some of the monsters had simply dissolved and faded from existence upon death. others lay scattered in bloodied heaps, oozing green, yellow and even purple blood all over the place. he winced slightly.
"maybe we should pick a cleaner place for that though. are you able to make it up there?" he asked, pointing to the roof of the building next door. a collective nod was all he needed. he turned and made his way up slowly. he knew that they were still wary about him and he wanted them to know that he wasn't going to run off again.
a few minutes later and they were all reunited once more. the wolfess with the limp slowly sat on the ground while the lioness in the hooded cloak helped her. the other wolfess and the vixen had their eyes on him. he looked at the battered group and inhaled deeply. "alright then, where to begin?" he mused. "are you at all familiar with the travel between worlds, dimensions, planes of existence... that sort of thing?" he asked and much to his own surprise got a nod in return. "we know a few, yes" one of them said. "like Peaps and Hestia..." another one muttered. he didn't know either of them but that wasn't important right now.
"good" he said and smiled softly. "that makes things a little easier" he inhaled once more and then he began to tell his tale. who he was, where he came from, why he was here, who Marius was, who Thalestris was... all of it. eventually he finished by the time the sun began to rise on the far horizon.
to most of the people in Colmaton, it would be a morning like any other. to a select few, it would be the morning where a new, powerful alliance was forged.
