I feel so out of place these days whenever I get on SL with my all primitive avatar I made (also pre-muzzletalk). My hardware does not allow me to be there anymore since it's just not up to the task so I haven't been able to update it any either. As one aspiring game asset modeler to another, what should I do if I wanted to get myself back on track and into the mainstream as far as technology is concerned. I'm so out of date since the last package I really worked with other then SecondLife was all polygon/primitive modeling in the 90s. I want to move my character into a more general system that I can pop into SL or any other system easily in the future as well as build standard skills.

Doing stuff like this in SL calls for some very specialized modeling atm. I wish I could make a high-res model and then break it down to whatever the target 3D engine needs, but this is not how SL works. I had to find a lot of workarounds to trick SL into rendering this kind of detail.

damn im a retard when it comes to blogs, but anyway, again, do you know how much its going to be selling for?

I haven't decided on a price yet. It'll be likely a bit higher than the average for furry avatars.

I'm guessing the L$900-1200 range? I have a suggestion please don't go overboard and do L$4000 like Lost Ferals did with their wolf.

How the hell do you make those?? I am amazed I use the....very old wolf av from luskwood... Awwww... I wanna have a more realistic wuff suit with a tail that doesn't look like a lamp

They're made in a process that unfortunately is quite complex. It involves creating a lot of details in the textures with a high end 3D software in order to fake details that SL can't render by itself.

Your the artist who made those? I use the female depicted there as my main avatar on SL, and I have to say I've never seen a better wolf avatar on SL. Their very realistic with amazing detail, and arent that difficult to rez. Wonderful work!

How many different animals do you think you'll make in the future? If you ever make a hyena or American Badger one I'd definately get it.

Hey thanks, gald that you like my wolves. It's hard to say if and when I can tackle new species. My technique is extremely time consuming as is my RL job. I'm trying to learn new stuff that might enable me to work faster in the future, so there's hope at least for 'yenas - I like them.
