I've been kicking around the idea of a flashback to give some backstory on Rudek.

These characters would make up a rag-tag team of sorts, representing the various factions that I find very interesting during the Polish-Ukraine conflict. France lent Poland experienced officers, with the explicit instructions NOT to deploy them in Galicia...but Poland did, and the officers were put in a difficult position. Many Ukrainians changed sides; the Sich riflemen were the elites, so a defector among them would be interesting. And finally, many teenagers and university students took up arms in Lwow, and were romanticized as "Eaglets." A 17-year-old Rudek, freshly enlisted, stands to learn much from being thrown in with these characters....
