Sexiest Nose art of WW2
One thing I do collect is original photographs of a military nature. I have literally hundreds of them and of those hundreds, perhaps 5 are modern copies mainly via fraud through the seller.
But here are two original photos taken of what were part of the most elaborately painted nose art of the war, These two B-24s of the 5th Air Force. 43rd Bomb group.
Dragon and his Tail and Cocktail Hour
Dragon and his Tail was the most elaborately painted Bomber of the war, literally nose to tail of the aircraft. The Dragon was slated to be preserved, but a paperwork screw up in the late 50s caused her to be scrapped instead.
The Collings Foundation Took the sole surviving B-24J that was still flying and painted her up as the Dragon from 1998-2005. I regret never seeing her flying.

fyi, that same dragon and gil pic came up with the results, but in color. appears to be same/similar plane. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.....d_His_Tail.jpg
I got to go through Dragon and His Tail a number of years ago when they flew her in to the Wings Over Gillespie air show; I remember that year because I was on the offramp off the freeway as the B-17 "9-0-9" (if I'm remembering the plane correctly) was on final and flew almost over my head; the sound of the four engines is unmistakeable.

It's not 100% clear, but that looks like the original plane and its artwork.
This is another one of those "Willie, Mickey or the Duke" arguments. There's so much to choose from that you can back your own candidate and have fun. Hadn't heard about this particular example, before.
