Alright, so this is a bit of an announcement.
Once again, I have exceeded the bounds of paperback. 'Off the Beaten Path's second book in the series, slated to be titled 'The Long Road Home', as some of you might already know, proved too long to fit in one book. So, once again, we've been forced to split the book. This means we'll be putting out a trilogy for 'Off the Beaten Path'.
Book two, titled 'Lost on Dark Trails', will be released at FC this year, and can be pre-ordered RIGHT NOW over yonder - http://furplanet.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=769
Book three, which is still entitled 'The Long Road Home', will be released at AC.
Sorry for the confusion. I had no idea when I set out to write this book that it would even be a two-parter, let alone a three-parter. But when you're somewhere in the neighborhood of 400k words, it becomes a necessity to split things up.
If you'd like to wait to own the entire series, we're looking to release all three at AC, potentially in a set, POTENTIALLY all in hardcover. So that would be awesome :)
If the odd composition wasn't a tip-off, this is going to be the cover for book 2. I decided this cover would feature Puck and Ransom, being as 'Lost on Dark Trails' begins with and chronicles, most prominently, their story. It should set it apart appearance-wise from the other two books, so if you eventually own all three, you'll never have to worry about having them out of order :P
Oh, and I plan to have large format prints of all three covers available at the FC Art Show, including this one. Give them a look!

(We just finished putting it online.)

Christ, I never did the math - but "Ulysses" is 225,000 or so words (regular Bloom's day celebrant).
There are 480,000 words in the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.
There are 835,000 words in all 37 of Shakespeare's plays combined.
There are 900,000 words in "Atlas Shrugged." And that book took her something like fourteen years, all typed while she was up to the gills with amphetamines. (If an Ayn Rand character always seems to have too much energy, talk too long, and be very annoyed at their surrounding's lack of conviction, a fair chunk of it was probably the influence.)
This book is SO MUCH LONGER than I always assumed it was. (You have the stat for how long "Heretic" was?) Kudos to you for the stamina just to type it all up.
But if I ever want to send these to someone, I could make a decorative box for the whole set. What chapter does this book break on?

Wow... book one and two are already around 700 pages combined... And i'm guessing the third will also lie around the 300 page mark?
Gosh, I can't believe I read whats prolly gonna be a thousand page trilogy... I've read many 1000+ page books, and they have almost never felt as smooth and flowing as this story has been.
Congrats Rukis, this has all been seriously impressive ;3

It is not the amount of words that count, but what they tell.
And OTBP has been quite a ride and one of the best things I've read in a long time.
I can't read for long on FA page format, else my eyes fall to the ground. So I usually copy-paste the text and format it so I can read it while traveling. Well. It came a bit short of 1000 pages (938 pages) of small lettering, so I sort of assumed it would end up in three books.
And yet, I never had a though of "closing the book and forgetting about it". It is almost unseen for someone to make such extensive story and not having some "boring pages" at some point.
-Just for the fun, it would be interesting to remove the furry references send part of the story to a publisher and see what their critique is.

"potentially in a set, POTENTIALLY all in hardcover."
Okay, I LITERALLY had to tense every muscle in both of my arms to keep them from flailing when I saw that. Then the flailing moved to my legs in an attempt to escape. I am inches away from running down the hall flailing my arms around like a maniac in sheer fanboy flipout.
