A success, he had caught one! Carefully, the hyena reeled in his catch. It took quite a lot of effort to transform someone into a spirit, and he might have been able to think up an easier plan. Still, being able to flex his spiritual abilities after so long cooped up, that was satisfying - and so too was the noise made when the human hit the floor. That was another of his tricks, it would have been rather embarrassing if the spirit had just fallen straight through...
