We have a Ceder of Lebanon planted on campus. With it being a rather unusual species to see in the US I snapped a bunch of photos of it. This is a tree that is considered a TRUE cedar or old world ceder. Many of the Ceders found in the united states belong to a different family. It also just so happens that the ceder was starting to produce its cones. Since these cones were found toward the bottom of the tree I believe that these are female cones and due to there size they are last years fertilized cones and they will probably open up this year and produce seeds..
