Ahh! You're wrong this time ;) Not to say the Ventelli are dishonorable, persay, but they're one of the more manipulative schemer-types, actually. They're calculating and unemotional and an evolved predator - they're very goal-oriented, and most of them probably agree that the end does indeed justify the means.
Actually makes me think of a tactician character from Suikoden - he's brilliant, but absolutely cold and almost literally amoral. His job is to make his side win, and he'll make it happen, even if means, say, murdering your own civilians and making it look like the other side did it because you need to rally more support against them...

Yeah, their eyes are creepy :b The race in general is a bit on the creepy side, and tends not to get along super-well with others. They come from the Dream Realm, and I'm pretty sure their original species (which is a playable race in the Advanced Race books) does in fact have something along those lines.
You know, coming from the Dream Realm, I'd say that they could very well have natural psychic powers that enable them to know what people dream of.
If so, it's reasonable to assume that the other races perceive this as an extreme invasion of personal privacy, and could be the reason for their dislike of the Ventelli race.

I know the original breed of Ventelli has "aura vision" - able to detect and read people's auras - but I'm almost certain that's not a trait the normal Ventelli have.
The other races more dislike the Ventelli for being cold, calculating, aloof, and rather on the amoral side :b
