i could totally see this being a game, and i have pretty much the whole idea thought out:

Pokemon Merged Warriors, unlike the pokemon mystery dungeon series where the pokemon don't think you are actually human. The Pokemon Actually sent out a distress call to the human world. You can do the whole collect badges in the human world (and stop an evil group from breaching the dimensions), any pokemon you have have caught and raised to level 100, you can Merge with and head to the pokemon world (human+pokemon = furries. the merged form starts at level 5, can't expect a human merge with a pokemon to understand the attacks right off the bat, plus starts at base form) and stop the evil there as well (pokemon that have been sent over trained to destroy the barrier keeping the worlds separate). Once you reach level 100 in both worlds, you can use the merged form, in the human world, but could only carry five pokemon (since you would be one than). Until the game is completed you have to go to Merged centers to travel between them. Once completed you would get an item that would allow you to travel freely between the worlds, and merge where ever you want to. Legendaries included. Can one human be the savior of two worlds, and control the duality in their mind?
that one might be too much for current systems.
