Allow me to gush:
I never felt so invested in a fictional narrative, not since Harry Potter. Right from the outset you really feel for the brothers, you laugh with them (and at them), you worry and fear for them, and you're proud of them when they start to grow. (Well, when Wirt starts to grow. Gregory doesn't really grow, he just grows on you.) It gets twice as good once Beatrice enters.
