Well kept new boiler house at a machinery show makes me think of the story "Mike Mulligan's Steam Shovel". Maybe this is a reincarnation of Mike and Mary Ann to entertain and educate visitors?
The tender certainly seems to take pride in his warm "pet" :)

osha standard is secondary containment, and segregation of volatiles and with good reason, the radiant energy alone off this beauty must be quite comfy in winter time
plus I don't see a fire extinguisher within 50 feet otherwise the shop is quite meticulous, love that heavy iron.

Volunteer = no OSHA (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse).
State L&I has the same requirements, and they would visit because of steam pressure vessel. Very picky about that, even with volunteers.
I'd be surprised if there aren't fire extinguishers right inside the main door. That's where I hang them :)

being it looks more like a garage shop so splitting hairs on if it's classified as ' indoors' but I'm just being derpy
yeah, pressure vessels are not something to mess with fast and loose, you go by the numbers every time, all the time.
the volunteer stuff I would guess tends towards careful activity. for one they usually aren't on a corporate schedule, and second the stuff they mess with is precious to them, and so they naturally are careful and fastidious.
I keep thinking about visition the durango and silverton museum and take the steam train ride
