I think the Animated Series Joker might be my favorite incarnation of him.

but to me there are 3 "alternative dimension jokers"
that cant relay be compared to one another
1. Fun and murder loving Joker, represented in the Animated series and slightly in the Adam West batman
2. Evil mobster gone mad joker, represented by Jack Nickolson and in The old comic book Joker
3. Sadistic sarcastic mental Joker, represented in the newer comics and the new movie

Yes, there is about three different versions of The Joker. =)
But... I think he have more sides of his mind in real. He is really awesome and interesting, and of course he is not only "crazy criminal" like some people thinks) And his insanity makes him unique in some way.

joker is really going to be sad tommorow, i herd there killing off batman tommrow in the comics, well not really killing him, he's going to retire and supposedly nightwing will become the new batman
