He only went crazy because of Pressure Sickness, or what ever it was. So he wasn't exactly "Crazy" on his own accord.

Still, he turned into a POS that could have caused the destruction of the entire human race. There are a very few military guys who are actually "good". Shame he wasn't one of them.
