
This is a quick concept for another game project called "Ink Princess".

Yep, this is part of the belly stuff.
This character will use a morph target system to expand her belly as she consumes more ink. (then spits it at her enemies and uses it for transactions and whatnot.)
I'm still getting the hang of modelling in Modo, I used to be a 3DSMax user. So no skeletal animation for this project, hence the "peg doll" idea; they only have to slide or hop.
Her expression will be dealt with in character portraits or something similar.

Ahh I wanted to do the same with octo Bubbles (spits latex and hops around in her pot). Tho I think I can work my way around Unity's mechanim. Squash, stretch, rotate images, etc. Tho it doesn't support bones out of the box either (I'll have to look for something like Spriter).
Ahh is the game fetish based (like mature)? I'm sure you could get away with simple translates for animation. Like some sorta Rayman thing.

ahh its ok. I bounced around a few, like Game Maker, Construct, etc, but Unity seems to be the only one that handles images nicely and the base engine is pretty solid.
I'm pretty much using it for mechanim, tho beyond the gui I am stumped. I'm hoping to plod through playmaker at least, a state machine thing. Unity3d is practically the same in 2d mode, just flattened on the z-axis. Heck, you could have both sprites and 3d models coexisting. I'm sure you can plug in your 3d models, use mechanim and playmaker too in it, and version 5 is coming soon. Attach a 3d player controller from the defaults and you already got a Doom setup.
It depends on what your comfy in. Tho yeah, Unity is based entirely around blank objects with scripts and colliders attached. I want to touch monodevelop as least as possible.
If you ever needed help, let me know if you want to jump ship. well.. as much as the gui at least.
And heck yeah fetishy games. Reminds me of Lago's stuff. I want to have penis monsters myself.
