Let me explain for everyone here why he lost to the Black Arrow. Smaug says "My armor is iron." The Black arrow is made of Steel. Steel is stronger then iron because it is more compressed if I remember right. That is why he could be killed by it. And if his scales did contain the strength of steel he probably couldn't fly as well or at all since the scales would be too compressed and heavy to fly. But yeah Smaug basically gives away his own weakness. And who are masters of the forge in mythology? Dwarves. Elves make the most long lasting and creative but, Dwarven metal is most mastered since they spend most of their lives working with earth. Now the reason why there were so few of them was because they either didn't have the materials or they didn't master how to make them yet. So the recipe for them was lost. I just wanted to explain that to help everyone feel better as to why it could hurt him. >_< Ontop of that you gotta be a damn good shot to hit him in the right place lol. Every dragon's scale is different in it's own way. Heck some of yall have fur or are made of an element lol. cheers.
