About one of every five white boxers is born deaf. I had experience with a deaf dog and, after losing her, was looking to adopt another. I found Callie listed under the special needs category on petfinder.com. We were united by the excellent folks at Tulsa Boxer Rescue.

I lost Callie in March 2015. In January, I noticed that she was having some motor function problems. One by one, our veterinarian ruled out the simple causes progressing to the more serious. While waiting on test results for a degenerative neurological disease, her condition declined rapidly and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to my little girl. I miss her terribly.
