i hadn't thought of that - as the story is set in something like our 1700 or so mixed with gaslight/early stem-punk tech at a smallish colony...it does look noir-ish.

The story has always been planned to be in black&white ink w/crosshatching....but if i was pressed for time it would be a lot quicker to do it like this...but it might look like i was trying to rip-off Tracy Butler's Lackadaisy Cats...when if fact i'm ripping off a dozen other styles! Ah well...

Re names - i wuz appalled when the Pokeman anime came to North Am many years after i wrote this story and they called the main character Ash (Ashe?)...and then ther was a TV show "Splash" a few years later that had a romance between two main-ish characters - "Emma and Ash/e (sp -?)" - GROOOAAANNN!!!! - Lame mainstream media has to stop sending rays through my tin foil hat and stealing all my ideas!!

Coincidence on "Splash" is understanable. my character's (and i guess their's) names are a ref to Norse mythology where the first man and woman are created from the Ash and Elm trees.

Whoa, I love the dramatic color palette, and I also love the sense of action from the flowy garments. Great illustration technique as usual, you're an amazing artist.

Hmmmm….I see no weapons at the ready (then again their clothes could be hiding some).

They don't have any weapons. If they did the working title for the chapter wouldn't be "Dangerous Night", it would be "Emma And Ash Are Here To Chew Gum And Kick Ass And They're All Out Of Gum"....which would be rather cumbersome....so, no, no weapons.

Not even improv weapons? (broken table leg, kitchen knife that sorta thing)

Then again..if they can't use weapons…what's the point of having any?
