But you were right. Not "apple-tree", just - "apple".
All right, let's see... Hunger - the werewolf, who has been murdered (carved stomach, huh) by his own friends, who did not like "little white werewolf" at all. Dead wolf’s body has been thrown in water and eaten by fishes.

Now we can see a demon, or, maybe, some kind of ghost - who looks like a dead wolf-man with scars and... Apples inside his body. Yes, as a duck on a celebratory table! Apples!! And blue lackluster eyes without pupils. Sometimes eyes of drowned men get a similar kind.
And... What? Oh! Apples! Yeah. They are poisonous and cannot be eaten. They all is green, but one of them has red color. It`s the werewolf’s heart. Hunger will offer you one of his apples if he meets ya, I think.
He feels soooo... Hungry. Of course - he wants to eat you, but he is still damn cute, is he?

But why apples? The apple - is an ancient symbol with various values. In this case I have taken an apple as the symbol of secrets of a life and death, and also my idea has based on an ancient legend that the green apple should be put on a tomb as the sign on safety of remembrance in souls of relatives and friends. I make Hunger’s heart red-colored, `cos his friends, I think, does not want to remember about him... A little malicious irony, only and all. As usual.
Well, and one more thing... I love apples. They are... Tasty!

Oh, I forgot to say, in art the apples has a lot different colors. But also I have a big story about this char in Russian; and art is not the illusts for it,

ohh so i might say that your russian maybe. =3 So far the only meaning about the apple i knows is "the forbidden fruit" but im very curious about what are its other meanings. =3

Yeah, I`m from Russia.
Try to look for other values and symbolic of this word, a lot of interesting legends is connected with it.
