"Shir of the Eastern Land came to Drangleic in the hopes of finding untold treasures and souls for her own personal benefit. Eventually she made her way to the Grave of Saints. What she hoped to find was lots of graverobbing. At least that's what this ladder smith told her. What really lied down there? Bullshit and giant diseased rats!
Needless to say, she eventually made it past a really large swarm of rats in a confined area when she came across the Rat King. With a rat tail in hand, he offered her a chance to serve his kind and ultimately be the bridge with humans and rats. She lied, of course--if playing along with the Rat King got him to call off his rats, she would have all the time needed to do some stealing.
The Rat King is no fool, however. He knows how humans can be such liars and cheats. The Crest he gave to her kept watch of her actions the entire time. When she made to desecrate a grave, something went terribly wrong. It left her cursed--doomed to take the place of the Royal Rat Vanguard she'd so relentlessly destroyed. Let it not be said the Rat King is without a sense of humor."
Unlike the last TF, this one is not canon to the actual game. With what we learn, though, it may as well. The premise is there's a covenant of giant talking rats who recruit Undead to defend their burrows. In exchange, the Undead are given rat tails which can be exchanged with their leader and whom the covenant is named after, the Rat King. Rewards including bartering stones and a ring which lets you move silently.
When he first offers you a part in his covenant, the dialogue is very parallel to that of a TF. What I'm about to show you is stuff directly ripped from the game. You'll know what I'm talking about soon enough. Just have a read of this:
"Leave this place, human. We have no time for thy kind. Humans bring nothing but filth...Is that a rat tail human? Thou'st one of mine rat burrows conquered. This will not go unnoticed. Rejoice, for the right to serve me is now thine. Since thou'rt human still... permit me ask. Wilt thy human soul surrender and pledge thyself to me? Swearest thou by the sweet-tempered sludge that laps at our bosoms?
...Thou hast the eyes of one who percieveth true beauty. Human, thou mayest serve. Take this ring. It was forged by a human who was once among us....The ring draws to thee who would defile our burrow. Wear the ring whenever thou'rt near, and destroy those who would dare provoke our ire. I will grant unto thee all thou should desire. I prithee serve with a true rat's honour."--The Rat King, Dark Souls II
See how fitting for a TF that is? Well, just for this, I decided to go with a rat TF. Even though it's cool enough as a covenant of talking rats, it's still lacking without TF. Humorously, there's also a suit of turtle armor which means you can literally build a ninja turtle and have them defend the sewers from your stealthy rat master who teaches you to be more stealthy. COWABUNGA!
Anyway, that's getting off topic. I hope youi enjoy this. More Dark Souls TFs to come. C&C well appreciated!

Yeah, it's a missed opportunity there. Ah, well. We'll still always have the Path of the Dragon and Dragon Remnants, though, am I right? I was actually deciding between this and the Forest Hunters but this one seemed more appropriate for TF due to the dialogue chosen for the Rat King. I'm assuming his name is Splinter though, as my ninja turtle character is likely to call him when I finish him.
