Chapter 1: Shadow


It’s been 5 years since the UASC won the war against the humans...Our

protagonist has no idea what has happened outside the prison walls, and is only

aware the loss of the war. Our protagonist is a 27 year old man named Shadow

Ookami. He is an ex-DWMA (Death Weapon Meister Academy) teacher. He left to

help the humans fight the war, in doing so he was expelled by Lord Death. Shadow

is an immortal due to a curse on his family by an evil and powerful witch. Shadow is

friends with Stein and used to be friends with Spirit, Maka Albarn's father. Shadow

attended with Stein and Spirit when they were little, they were childhood friends at

the time, until one day Spirit made Shadow angry, and they haven't talked

since...but that’s another story lets get back to one we’re on now...Shadow is a

quiet person, he doesn’t talks much. he is about 6’0, he is Caucasian but he also has

black wolf ears, a black wolf tail, black shaggy hair that covers one of his eyes, and

has two different eye colors which are purple and red. Shadows mother was a black

wolf anthro, Shadow got most of his looks from his father who was a human. He has

a sister named Raven, who unlike Shadow, is a full black wolf anthro, she gets most

of her looks from her mother. Before Raven was born Shadow attended public

school and he was made fun of because of how he looked, people called him names

and some even tried to hurt him. Eventually it got so bad that his father pulled him

out of normal school and home schooled Shadow. When Shadow was old enough his

father signed him up to be a student at the DWMA. When Shadow arrived he was

greeted by Lord Death with open arms. When everything was situated Shadow

started attending classes his father sometimes gave Shadow private lessons that

were not taught at the academy. Its about time I tell you about his father...Saber

was a legend in the academy...He was known for his stealthiest, Soul wave length

attacks, the list is endless. Saber was a three star meister by an early age. Saber is

credited for taking down the most powerful witches known to the DWMA. One of the

witches he fought cursed him and his family with immortality. Saber was forced to

watch his friends get older and pass. Saber tried constantly to find a cure, but he

came to realize that there is none. So Saber just accepted it even though he knew

somewhere there is a cure...Now back to the story The things being taught to him

were part of his family traditions. The techniques learned were too powerful for even

the best meister to handle. Due to this training Shadow earned three star meister

almost immediately. Even though he was very powerful he didn't fit in with the other

weapons and meisters. Shadow was very lonely. Until one day Spirit and Stein came

into his life. they were best friends and always watched each others backs. They

were practically like family to Shadow. Shadow’s father was killed in a car accident

with his mother. Saber and his mother were on their way from a business meeting

when they were T-boned by a truck going 97 mph. When the news spread Shadow

was affected the most. After the tragedy Shadow closed himself out of the world and

went into a deep depression. The DWMA held a funeral for Saber and his mother.

Almost everyone in the DWMA attended, even Lord Death. Lord Death was most

upset of them all. Luckily Raven was too young to understand what happened, and

just kept wondering where momma and papa went to. When Raven finally realized

what happened she couldn't stop crying for days. Afterwards Death immediately

insisted that Shadow and Raven stay and live with him. Raven didn't seem to mind,

seeing as she was still in shock and Shadow was skeptical at first he would

constantly get into fights over the littlest thing, but over the years as he became a

stronger student at the DWMA he became wiser and his bond with Lord Death grew.

due to Shadows earlier training by his father he inherited all of his fathers abilities

and more. So he surpassed others at the Academy, even Stein couldn't understand

how Shadow pulled off some of the attacks he did without ripping his body to

shreds. Once Raven became of age she joined up with the academy with Soul and

Maka. As time went by Shadow wanted to train his sister in the ways of the assassin

but Raven didn't want to be an assassin she wanted to be a warrior and wield a big

axe. Shadow wasn't happy but he knew he couldn't change her mind. So she

refused to train with Shadow and went on to become a warrior. She found a partner

whose name will be mentioned later on. When Shadow left to help fight the war it

angered her greatly to see her own brother leave and betray the academy. That was

months ago and she has been with the academy for a couple years now. Her and

Maka have become like sisters, and are great friends along with Soul and Ravens

partner which is a big axe. Now let me tell you a little about Shadows family

history...Shadow and Raven are in the Ookami family which was the head family in

the Shadow clan. The Shadow clan was known for their studies about the human

soul and how much power can be put into it. The Shadow clan was a clan full of

legendary assassins who specialized in soul wave attacks. They, at the time, were

the most powerful clan in existence. They had many abilities...Including being able

to bend their shadows and use them as weapons. For example they could use their

shadow to skewer you kind of like the enchanted sword. When Lord Death heard

about the Shadow clan. He was worried that some may become corrupted by power

and use it for evil purposes. So Lord Death went to meet with their clan leader. The

clan leader was a very wise man and assured Lord Death that nobody from his clan

was going to go mad with power. The clan leader wanted to help Lord Death pursue

the wicked and keep the people safe from harms way. the clan leader is Shadow’s

grandfather, Midnight. Midnight became Lord Deaths closest friend. Lord Death

trusted Midnight like no other. Midnight was even offered to be apart of Lord Deaths

Eight Shinigami Legions (Which would have been Nine Shinigami Legions). Midnight

refused to leave the clan. Midnight couldn't just leave behind his clan...It was

unthinkable. Midnight was worried if he left what would become of his clan, knowing

his son Saber (Shadows Father) was too young to take on the responsibility. Plus

Midnight had a strange feeling about one of the Shinigami Asura. Midnight warned

Death of the bad things to come, telling him that Asura is the future Keshin, but

Death wouldn't hear it. Death was angered by this accusation, and told Midnight that

It was impossible for anyone in the Eight Shinigami to become a Keshin. Midnight

knew he couldn't convince Lord Death. So Midnight bidded Death a farewell and left.

Only a few months later Lord Death started to see Asuras behavior change

drastically, he’s more withdrawn and scared than he usually was. Still Lord Death

refused to believe what was happening was serious, and concluded it was nothing.

Only later to regret that decision when Asura killed his partner, and slaughtered the

other three of the Eight Shinigami. Lord Death and the others retreated to the

Shadow clan for help. Midnight offered to take them in. Lord Death could only

apologize for not believing Midnight. Lord Death said it was his fault for letting this

happen, but Midnight reassured him. Telling him that it was bound to happen and he

was always going to become a Keshin no matter what. Once the others were healed

up they left without saying anything. They had lost hope of defeating Asura. So it

was just Lord Death and Midnight left to take on the Keshin. They left as soon as

possible. It didn't take long to find him, he was on his way to kill and eat human

souls. Midnight flanked him with a twist kick to the upper chest. He used his kick to

shoot his soul wavelength into the keshin. In doing so the Keshin had a giant gash

where he was kicked. Lord Death tried to finish him off with a Reaper Chop, but

Asura used Energy Blast that knocked Lord Death back. Asura got back up and tried

to look for Midnight, but Midnight used Shadowy Spike that shot a few large spikes

that skewered Asura. Lord Death hit Asura with a Shock Wave that sent him

spiraling into the ground making a large crater. Asura got back up in no time, and

sent his Compressed Soul Wavelength Energy Beams strait for Lord Death. Lord

Death had no trouble blocking them. The Keshin immediately used his Drill attack on

Lord Death, which caused him to drop his weapon. Lord Death was in a bad position

and Midnight knew it. All of a sudden Asura broke through Lord Deaths defense and

almost went right through him, but Midnight knocked Lord Death out of the way just

in time. In doing so Midnight was hit by the Attack knocking him on the ground With

a giant gash on his chest, piercing his heart. Once Lord Death realized what

happened he went on an all out rampage and grabbed the Keshin by the neck and

tore his skin right off. Asura screamed in agony, and begged Lord Death for mercy,

but none was given. Death wrapped him around his own skin and made a bag like

structure. Death threw the skin bag on the ground and went over to Midnights

bloody body. Lord Death knew he wasn't going to make it. Midnight, with his last

breath, asked Lord Death to watch over his son for him and to give him his Katana.

Lord Death promised to take Saber under his wing and he would protect and care for

his son as if he were his own. Lord Death told Midnight that he would never forget

this day...Midnight then thanked Lord Death and slowly passed. Lord Death then

picked up the sack of skin and went back to the Shadow clans village When the

villagers saw the skin bag they knew it was over. They all cheered and held a

festival in celebration unaware their clan leader was dead. Lord Death went to the

main building that housed the elders. He told them of the terrible news and they

saw to it that they find a replacement as soon as possible and to make

arrangements for a funeral. They were going to wait after the festival to tell the

villagers. They saw the skin bag and asked Lord Death what he would do with it.

Lord Death told them he was going to put it where it would never be found. They

didn't ask anything else after. Before Lord Death left he mentioned what Midnight

said to him before he died. At first the elders were skeptical about it, but eventually

came to a conclusion. They told Lord Death he may take in his son, but only under

one condition he was to take care of Saber and protect him with his life no matter

what. Lord Death swore that he would be safe in his care. Satisfied they signed a

document stating that Saber is under Lord Deaths care. Lord Death swore that he

will protect Saber with his life. Death asked the elders if they knew where to find

Saber. They told him that he plays outside by himself. They told Death that Saber

didn't have many friends other than his father. Lord Death knew telling Saber was

going to be his biggest challenge yet. Lord Death left the elders and looked around.

Eventually Lord Death found Saber playing with a ball off to the side. Away from the

festival. when Lord Death came up to him. Saber greeted Death in a friendly matter

since Lord Death was at their house a lot he got to know him a little. Saber noticed

Death was acting strange and asked where his dad was. Lord Death froze he didn't

know what to say. Saber was only 10 at the time...Saber asked again, this time with

a little more anger, Lord Death finally snapped out of it. Death told the child he was

sorry, Saber is a very smart child and knew what happened as soon as the words

left Death. Saber was in shock and didn't want to believe it. Tears filled his eyes and

suddenly ran as fast as he could into the forest, he ran and ran until he couldn't run

anymore. Saber eventually stopped, He rested on a broken log. Lord Death

eventually found him crying, tears dripping down his face onto the ground. Lord

Death felt something that day, he felt sorrow and grief for the child losing his father

at such a young age. Lord Death came up to Saber and comforted him. Saber asked

Lord Death where his father was and if this was just a joke. Lord Death just stood

there...Motionless and trying to find what to say. Finally, he spoke to Saber. Death

never really was the emotional type, but you could tell Lord Death was filled with

sorrow by the way he spoke. Almost like a father trying to comfort his son. He told

Saber that his father was in a better place and that he would want him to move on

and live his legacy as his son. Lord Death gave Saber a pat on the back. Saber got

up and wiped his tears away. Lord Death told Saber that his father wanted him to

watch out for Saber and take him as if he were his own. Lord Death told Saber that

he will never forget his father for his sacrifice. He then led the child to his home. It

was a big castle Saber was amazed by the pure size. before entering Death gave

him a ring. He told Saber that the ring was a symbol, showing others that he was

Lord Deaths son. Saber was very uneasy about living with Lord Death at first, but as

Saber grew older so did his bond with Lord Death…Now that we have Shadows

family history down. We can begin...
