For me, the lights on the marshes are spirits. They were immediately born spirits or some souls became it, also can be that many small souls becomes one spirit. They are inherently neutral and contain a great force. This force can be used only by someone else and with agreement of the spirit. But if it's being used by someone without their agreement, this leads to their death.
