She Who Rides The Shadows
A present for a very awesome friend, R-Eventide!! She was able to make it to my Livestream session right as I was completing my other projects, and I had time to kill. Random surprise bust sculpting time!! I decided to work some more on materials and lighting usage with this as well, and I really, really love the fact that the subsurface scattering render took!! Apologies if it's really really dark to some folks - my new desktop's screen is very bright, and would be the reason if it's not turning up well here.
Quick busts like these with all the lighting and materials fanciness would be around $45-$60 depending on complexity of character.
Cheers to you, my fine finny friend! <3 It was so great to see you after so many long long months! Keep on keeping on!
Media: ZBrush 4r6, Photoshop for background tweaking and eye highlight
Time: ~3.4 hours

My cheap monitor doesn't do dark shades justice, but that's a beautifully shaped face, and I love the way the contour flows up along the fins ears.....which are clearly more than pseudo-ears, with their placement just behind the ear holes. Very nice variant on dragon anatomy you did there.
And if I look at my sucky monitor from just the right angle, that eye does start looking very lifelike.

Really awesome! I love seeing your 3D renders. Man, seeing all these renders makes me wanna try Sculptris out too (since there's no way I could afford Zbrush).
I'm amazed that you were able to make it so quickly too. When I think 3D art, I think "time consuming," but it looks like it takes about as long as digital paintings if you know what you're doing.

Thankfully, the two models were already available and ready to use (my Tuurasucha dragon didn't need any alteration for the model), so most of the time spent was on detailing the octopus, positioning the arms, and refashioning the model, outside of the painting and lighting I did for the official entry.
Sculptris seems like a lot of fun - it lets you get right down to the fun part of sculpting!
