Well, apparently now a days, people think that anything that burns is a blow torch.
That thing you have pictured, is a real one. It works like a Coleman stove. Heats the gas to vaporize it and uses air pressure in the tank to feed the fuel to the nozzle.

Man, I wish I could even relate to you, the times the expression "FIRE IN THE HOLE" has been said and meant so many things in my life... Blasting. Thermite welding. Arc welding. Flippin a switch/contactor on a Big electrical device. Starting fires, starting big Diesel engines, starting locomotive steam boilers, lighting flares, lighting fusees, lighting fireworks, lighting bonfires. Firing 12-pound civil war howitzer cannons. Exploding spraypaint cans in bonfire mortars. Oh, also private stuff too, like things with my fave female, but that may be T.M.I.
