I did something like this before but figured I'd do another!
Keep in mind: This is NOT a tutorial. This is just showing how I sketch things. I don't personally find any method "wrong", in fact, I sketch in loads of different ways depending on how I feel.
1. Gesture sketch. I pretty much always start with this. It's rough, meant to get in the pose and gesture rather then details.
2. I don't always do this one, but this is a rough body sketch so I have an idea of what I want to do. Usually this is done if my gesture sketch is too rough, as sometimes it's got a lot of detail.
3. Final sketch, but there's two parts to it. Almost always, I sketch the nude body first, then I add clothing on top. Sorry, didn't save the image that didn't have the clothing! Normally, I don't sketch in hands, I do that while inking, but hers are very simple so I added them in while I sketched.

Ooo! I always love seeing stuff like this!
I always find it fascinating to see how each person works on their art.
While like you said, it's not a tutorial, it can still help novices like myself figure certain things out and correct things about our own work.
Thank you! ^^

New layers, I use lots and lots of layers as I work. Usually what I do is make a new layer, then merge it once I'm happy with it. So I make more layers then there are in the end.
Not so much for sketching though, it's more so for inking. I make a new layer constantly, it's a habit, to make editing easier. Then I merge whatever I want merged.
