rftigermode consented to do a commission for me, and this is what I got. It just fucking blew me away it's that good. Some of you may have already seen it in her galleries. But if you are not watching her, then you damned well should be.
I told her to go crazy with her imagination on the pose etc, and she did. That lighting and background is just bloody stunning. Simple, yet really, really good.

Any of the other artists reading this that I have commissioned will probably slap me, but I have to say this is probably my single favorite commissioned pic. Ms. Tigermode presented it to me and I was blown away... The lighting is spectacular, and the Vanguard came out just about perfect in every way. Really really stoked with this one.

Vanguard engineers are their equivalents of builders/scientists/boffins - so it's all about the cool toys or single-minded attention to fixing broken things and making 'improvements'. Not all improvements have a positive outcome so they really are the interstellar equivalents of Tim-The-Toolman-Taylor
