He's knocking the bow wrong. When firing a bow , the arrow shaft rests on the arrow guard, which is above the hand. Generally the index finger is used as a guide for the arrow.
In all logic the way you've got your bow set up in this picture the arrow should just kind fall down, theres nothing holding it up.
