WARNING SOME DETAILS ARE RATED R:
Species: Exartids
Scientific name: Expareó Cathartidae
Height: male| 10 ft; female| 8ft
Weight: male| 100-150Ibs; female| 70-90Ibs
Behavior: males| solitary, assertive, protective, territorial, caring, very noisy;
Females| calm, solitary, laid back, quieter, submissive, empathetic toward their own kind
Habitat: The exartids are nomadic and follow their food, they often are found in packs if there is a meal around, other than that they are on their own or with their mate and young if they have any/one.
Diet: Feed off of the sadness, depression, and hopelessness of others; Flesh and bones. They drink water.
Life expectancy: males| 80-570 years; females| 100-600 years
They are adults at 15 years of age.
Maximum height at: Males| 12 years; females| 9 years
They are fully developed at 20 years old.
Females start laying at 16 years old.
Males become fertile at 10 years old.
Breeding season: Every five years of a females life after they turn 17 years old they will come into heat in early winters. A female can have a clutch of 3-12 hatchlings. Exartids mate for life.
The Breeding Process: First there is a display from any local males, showing off their fluffs and making allot of demonic sounding cries. Any cowards leave and run off while the rest of the males fight, most of the time to the death, over the chance of getting to mate and breed a female. The ruckus can attract even more males to the scene. The display and battle shows that the male is worthy of her, survival of the fittest after all. More males come if they catch her scent as well which leads to more fighting. Once there is a winner the female becomes mates with him/or her(homosexuality in this breed is as common as it is in others). The male will then mount the female like a dog or swine, then proceed to have sexual intercourse with her. Because of the way the males penis is it is very painful for the females, so their mates comfort them as much as they can.
Brooding: Both parents(same sex couples tend to steal eggs and hatchlings) care for the eggs and hatchlings together until they turn 15 and can survive on their own.
Diseases: Eye socket infection, mareks, and a skin disease that cannot be cured with over abundance of crystals.
Genetic defects: More than three toes, smooth face/no wrinkles, non melty mouth (no acidic saliva), under developed tail blade, crystals other than white, abundance of crystals, no crystals, different body type than malnourished, different colored glowing eye sockets, face markings, light blue(female) or dark blue (male) body coloring, black head, no neck fluff, extended neck fluff down the back, fluff right before the tail blade, fluff going down the head and neck (like a turkey), male with dark colored fluff, female with pastel colored fluff.
About their bodies: The exartids have goose like tongues. Their beaks are sharp for tearing. The top and bottom of their mouths are melted together but the melted parts stretch when the mouth opens. Their saliva is extremely acidic as a defense and to help break down their food. They have empty eye sockets and can see but very dimly in day, in the evening they see extremely well(this is when they hunt). The females eye sockets are slightly bigger than the males. They have turkey vulture like heads with wrinkles. They have very small but sensitive ears(they rely on their hearing and sense of smell very much) the males ears tend to be a bit bigger than females. Males also tend to have thicker necks. There is feathery fluff around the base of their neck, the males being bigger so that during breeding season he can display. They have a very malnourished looking body but beneath this is all muscle, do not take their mass for granted. Long, thin, powerful legs with two(on the front legs) and one(on the back legs) clear/white crystals are found, they are dull until mating season, then they tend to shine and even glow. Exartids have medium sized paws with no paw pads leading to big thick black talons, the males being a little larger than females. They have very thick rhinoceros-like skin. The anus of these creatures looks much like a bird vent. The females vagina looks much like a dogs. The males foreskin shows and the penis, when erect, is much like a cats, pointed and barbed but also has 3-4 large spikes coming from it (dark purple-pink colored 10-18 inches long, thickness varies). The males testes and females ovaries are located between the shoulder blades. They have long tails with two separate crystal patches that then leads to their tail blade. The females tail blade is shorter and more curved than the males, but just as sharp. The males tail blade is long and only slightly curved which helps with defense during the mating season. The tail blades are much stronger than anything found on our earth and cannot be broken or melted.
Coloring: Males| Face color: white; fluff color: pastels; body color: dark purples.
Females| Face color: Gray; Fluff color: dark colors; Body color: light maroon
Crystals: white/clear
