This variant of the Mp5 came into existence in the early 70's when various security agency requested an abbreviated version of Heckler Koch's iconic submachine gun. In exchange for losing longer range accuracy and controllability operators got a closed bolt smg that could be concealed under heavy coats, stowed easily insides vehicles, and could even be carried and fired from within a special briefcase. In later years a side-folding stock was added to return some some its original small carbine accuracy of the original Mp5 without compromising too much concealability.
Points of interest, the downward projecting hook on the front foregrip acts as a barrier to prevent the operator from accidentally placing a finger in front of the muzzle and getting it shot off! This version is one of the earlier versions which does not have the smooth side lower receiver or the pictographic selector of later models. It also is equipped with the short 20rd magazine.

Yeah, I suppose. It just wouldn't be the same though. I've fired a real full auto MP5 Navy as well as some others, including belt fed...FUN! Anyways, there's a full auto shooting range in Georgia that lets you rent em. They don't have a MP5K though unfortunately. The cyclic rate on it would make it a blast to shoot.
That's what controlled bursts are for :P You'd actually be surprised how controllable a full auto is with just a little practice. I put 30 rounds, center of mass on a target about 20 yards away in almost a constant burst out of an Uzi 9mm on my birthday. The MP5 Navy that I fired had a higher rate of fire so I had a harder time with it, but still kept about 85% of rounds on target at the same distance. I was never a huge fan of uzis until I fired one. Never one hiccup, extremely accurate and controllable, very nice.
I could go into a description here that would probably be more difficult to understand than just me posting up a youtube video that explains it better, so here it is :

It takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun if you have ammo to waste and I do mean waste because you won't be hitting squat, lol.
I feel like we're hijacking baron's thread(sorry baron) so if ya want to chat guns or whatnot further, please send me a PM, I love to talk about guns and shooting. It's my #1 hobby (shooting that is, not talkin about it :P)
