Got a much nicer photo of Orion this time. The big pink area in the middle is the Great Nebula, M42, with De Mairan's Nebula, M43, the pink dot just above and to the left. The faint blue haze above M42 and M43 is the Running Man Nebula, made up of NGC 1973, NGC 1975 and NGC 1977, and just above that is the open cluster NGC 1981.

This photo was taken with a Samsung NX1 with a Samsung 85mm f/1.4 prime lens. The camera was set to Manual exposure mode, f/1.4, a 3 second exposure and ISO 6400. I used a tripod, of course, and a remote shutter release to minimize vibration. I then used Adobe Lightroom 5.7 to adjust the levels, clean up the noise and crop the image.
