Recently, I saw
RUdragon's animation: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15456462/
I thought to myself, hey, I wanna do my own intro animation, too! =O
So I fired-up Flash, and did this animation within 9 days flat. @_@
I admit, one of my 2015 new year's resolutions is to try to improve my animation skills. I plan to do more 2D animations within this Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram. I felt that artists who can animate tend to be more popular and attract more fans than artists who can't. But that's just me. >_> It's just based from what I've observed.
Anyone can animate. It's just that animation takes lots of time and patience. Patience... is something I don't have, really. x_x That's one of my greatest weaknesses: I simply have very little patience. I'm the sort of person who wishes to see something done RIGHT NOW. It's this lack of patience which has been keeping me from being able to animate well. Well, I intend to try to change that.
I guess, I also did this animation out of severe envy from seeing animators like RuDragon able to animate very well.
Hopefully, we'll see a little more increase of animation-based submissions in my gallery in the future. =)

Fantastic. X3
I should consider doing something like this for my youtube posts or somethin. Oh, and yeah, animation and ADHD mix reeeeal well. x_X
It takes a lot of focus and patients and I've been fighting the ADHD thing to keep my work going. (Caffeine is a stimulant and helps, so yay coffee!) So I totally understand the inpatients with it and such. It's so damn satisfying when the progress is made though.
So yeah, great work. :3

Thanks! ^_^
Can't say how many... Every frame is a composite of several layers together, each animated independently from each other. With the base framerate of 24fps, animation framerate is varied between 12fps (animating on "twos") to 8fps (animating on "threes", similar to Japanese anime). The Flash project itself spans 216 frames in total in the timeline. The actual animation itself, I'd say around 40 frames.
However, if you mean how many frames I've prepared in advance, believe or not, there were only 9 frames! XD It's easier to prepare keyframes in advance. Then I simply fill in the animation gaps later.
Obviously, I was heavily influenced by Japanese anime. It has been my goal to reproduce this "anime" look, with a few of my personal touches as well.
Again, thanks! ^_^

Things I like:
lots of areas being animated
doesn't look half bad
you included shading on multiple areas
it's not sexual in nature
it's not confusing to look at
Things I don't like:
no SECOND EYEBALL when he turns, he's also missing an eyebrow
top of the hair seems too static, even when turned
other than the ends, the tail is static
legs static
static is boring in animation
bottom of the mouth cuts off slightly
All in all, fairly good.

Erm... x_o
no SECOND EYEBALL when he turns, he's also missing an eyebrow
It's a cartoon. It doesn't need to represent reality that accurately. Perspectives tend to be stylized a little.
top of the hair seems too static, even when turned
Again, cartoon. Have you ever seen Mickey Mouse's ears as he turns his head before? Those things remain static, too, no matter which way you look at them.
other than the ends, the tail is static
I admit, the tail is the most difficult part of the body to animate with. However, I don't want the tail to be too distracting from being constantly in motion all the time.
legs static
Do you expect people's legs to even move about while standing still like that?
static is boring in animation[/i]
Static is also economical, and helps to strongly emphasize the final pose.
bottom of the mouth cuts off slightly
It's a deliberate stylistic decision. I was inspired by Gosho Aoyama's manner of drawing mouths in his manga series.
In other words, this animation does indeed have flaws. However, they're the same kind of flaws that people love Japanese anime for (besides the fact that Japanese anime are like that due to limited production budget). Most of these flaws are deliberate and is consistent with the style of the animation I go for.
Still, thanks for the constructive criticism.

That eye is "missing" because it's hidden from view, due to the angle.
I could try drawing the missing eye, but it'll only look weird because it'll look pretty squashed, due to the almost profile view of the head. If this bothers you a lot, then I apologize. I drew it that way because I wanted to.
Keep in mind that this "mistake" is also the same reason why anime characters, when in profile view, have mouths that don't "break" through the cheek. It's a perspective cheat which makes animating the mouth a lot simpler because animators don't need to also animate the entire jaw as well.
