Presses like these shaped heated raw steel ingots into "forgings" in a manner similar to a blacksmith hammering iron with his hammer. Pressing heated steel changes its molecular structure, yielding tougher material that generally can take shock and stress better. The ability to do forgings at large scale is what enabled many of our most massive mechanical achievements.

I forget what's in front. I have no idea why it was placed in that particular spot. They had a bunch of stuff stored in this building that they planned to save.
