you have to be careful on selecting calligraphy pens for sketching and or out lining. The dip pens i prefer to use for art in general are http://www.michaels.com/speedball-s.....l&start=15
they give me fine lines and are very helpful :3
And what i use to fill in big spots with ink... i just use a regular writing style calligraphy nib.
but the trick on the control of the ink is... not using your wrist when drawing... you want to use the motion of your arm/ shoulder... i know it sounds weird and will definitely feel weird.. but it works... in this effect .. you'll apply less pressure .... when you use your wrist more and more ... it causes the nib end to slit and that causes the ink to dribble in spots you don't want it to be. I learned this in drawing I and II class and it takes a little bit to get use to ... but before you always start inking ... remember to clean your nibs every once in a while.. .this prevents build up in the middle of arting :3 I usually clean my nibs with rubbing alcohol and then rinsing them in water.... I also use a paper towel for whipping my nibs every other dip or so in ink... and i always tap it vigorously to get the random droplets out so they don't randomly escape when i'm in the middle of inking.
I hope this helps you out!!! but always practice and practice :3... and you will improve drastically ^_^

Thank you so much for the advice :3 I have used speedball before in the past and still do (one of the best nib brands out there xD) I think I just have to get the no wrist/ arm motion under control, so thank you so much ^w^ can't wait to see more amazing art from you ^w^ and sorry for replying to this so late ;w;
