So--this is a piece I'll have at the Rainfurrest art show in two weeks. It's a clouded leopard in a cloudy nebula. ^0^
This is like some of the pieces I used to do 15 years ago for the sci-fi/fantasy cons I did before I discovered furry fandom--except that, I have to say, it is MUCH improved over the ones I did back then. I've gotten a bit better at painting animals.
Anyway, I would definitely like to know what people think of this type of work. (BTW, this is a sort of test piece, and is only about 6x8 inches. Other ones I have planned will be bigger.)
*snugs!*

"Wow" is what I think. I love the eyes. That's one of the first things I look at. And this kitty has beautifully expressive eyes. And you did an awesome job on its markings. It would be a piece that I would buy a print of. I wish I could go to Rainfurrest. I miss Washington.
Thanks. I'm probably not going to sell prints of this until after the con...just have the original. Prints range from $5 to $10 depending on size and stuff like that. This will ultimately probably be a 5x7 $5 print. As for the original, I may put it in the show at a low minimum bid and see where it goes. Pricing is always a pain for me. *sigh*
Well, if you have vision problems, then you should especially avail yourself of the growing library of books on CDs! I listen to them all the time--I find they help me while away the hours here at my mind-numbing job! Also, it's something I can do while I'm working on paintings that doesn't distract my eyes like TV does. ;) I love listening to Clarke read his own work too. He was an amazing guy.
I don't know what you mean. My next pic will be of a rainbow unicorn running along the beach at sunset...with dolphins splashing nearby. ^0^
Seriously, though--I TOTALLY had to look that reference up. That was just slightly after my time, 'cause I graduated in '83. I think those things were just taking off, but being completely un-hip, I was not plugged in to the Trapper Keeper culture. Actually, I was more concerned about people making comparisons to Schim Schimmel.
But, sorry--I like "animals in space" art. It isn't the first one I've done, nor will it be the last. You have been duely warned! ^0^

I have to save up enough money to go to Further Confusion. So i can introduce my RPG i've written over the past 30 odd years, (total). So I won't be able to make Rainfurrest this year either. Perhaps next year when i kind of want to try and fly out to ref my game at as many 'cons as i can. It has 300 'furry/aquatic/scaley'ses as Player character posibilities and is REALLY addictive to play, - even though it isn't x-box. Wii or playstation.
Anyway I need to get in a form that someone 'could' buy a copy if they wanted one. And I put sex, drugs and rock n' roll in the game inverted the DM to all the players instead and the whole game works off of 2 rules! .
I'm going to be a sponsor at Further Confusion. And I might find some time to make a suit too

Well on that note what are your rates?
The races are mine but I will give you license to sell your own artwork even after I have bought it from you for my game.
I will give you the deal that no one else will, all the artwork you do for me is yours. I, instead will buy the license to use it for my game .
I think you deserve all reproduction rights of your own artwork, unlike what others have done in the past. And, any contract I make with you will have that codicil added so that even if I sell portions of my game no one will have rights to reproduce your artwork without your expressed authorization.

Thanks--that would definitely be the kind of deal I would appreciate! Rates depend on several factors, though...how much art, what kind of pieces (how elaborate and so forth), usage...you know, all that type of thing.
One problem is that it's looking like I'm going to be fairly well committed til the end of the year with the projects I'm already buried in. :P Just working on stuff for RF is taking a major bite out of my schedule...but I've gotta have decent work to show since I AM a guest of the con.

EEEE! yeah that WOULD be a tad embarrassing, indeed!
Okay well maybe when I get beyond 'proof' stage.
I would think just for an estimate that there would be something like 50 line drawing illustrations and a three or four full color works of as much detail as you are known for. . And the fact that like Dark Natasha, Blotch, Cris Sawyer, Fredrick Remington or Michelangelo you are a household name - famous for your works to date, Putting you on my cover would guarantee a sale per volume, My own work will have to suffice for the next Further Confusion and Califur and maybe ComicCon if I can get the 6 grand for a booth. AnthroCon is a dream since it is so far away. Anyway I suppose I'll have to bet in line to find you some time to do these. there is always next year...

Wow........
I like the nebula effect on the stars.
Although, if you want to make it exactly accurate, You should add, like, a distant galaxy.... *Ish Shot*
^_^;;
It doesn't really need it, but it'd make it look more like real stars.... Sorry, Used to be a space nerd before I joined the furries. ^_^;;;;;;;

I've always been a bit of a space nerd myself... Whenever I see some documentary where they are really trying to explain the stupendously unimaginable vastness of the universe, it always gets me a bit hyped. The deep field images of blue galaxies in a pinprick of the sky, the time it takes light to reach us from those most distant of galaxies...the whole idea that any star we're looking at right now may have vanished or exploded thousands of years ago and no longer exist, but we may never know about it because the light won't reach of for thousands or even millions of more years...or if we see it die tomorrow, it'll really have happened centuries ago. Galaxies colliding and warping each other. The fact that most stars are binary systems. Whenever they find new planets and continue to narrow the field down to planets that could support life that we could relate to or just show a new, crisp photograph taken from the surface of Mars. Stuff like that just really amazes me--there's so much out there. So much to be in awe of...and here we are on our tiny little rock, balanced between the flames of a huge nuclear furnace and the ultimate deep-freeze of space. How can anyone think they know enough about it? How can anyone not think it's important?
Also, I can't help but wonder--which galaxy in that nearly infinite darkness WAS the Star Wars galaxy??? ;) I'm a sci-fi geek too.

Ay, and, small and insignificant as we are, bacteria, atoms, and more are smaller than us. To a bacteria, a human is a galaxy. For all we know, the atoms are tiny galaxies, with even smaller planets. Maybe even tiny humas living somewhere in a single atom.
-But I digress. PSP can't type anymore. XD

The original background was a watercolor wash on white illustration board. I hadn't originally intended to use black, but the color wasn't as intense or deep as I had wanted and so once I dug my old airbrush out of mothballs I just went ahead and sprayed it in. I had originally intended only to use the airbrush to hit individual stars to give them a glow.
