I'm now working towards turning this into a kit. I've made a few changes to the mechanics to make that possible ^^, All of the parts for the tail were modelled in FreeCAD and then imported into Blender for this render.
I'll be working on the electronics next, I want anyone to be able to assemble the kit with just basic tools. That does necessitate having most of the electronics in the kit provided assembled or almost completely assembled. Because of this, I will be redesigning the electronics so that they can be quickly assembled on a small scale assembly process. Additionally, I'm going to add some more circuit protection, particularity some extra electrostatic discharge protection. I imagine that static will quickly become an issue when you're basically covered head to toe in shag carpet :P

I actually ended up doing everything by hand. The design only uses a few different fasteners though, so it didn't really take much time to model. I'll have a look around their website for those models next time, I don't normally buy products from McMaster-Carr since they do not ship to individuals outside of the US (they will ship to businesses).
