Endless Realms player race - Kalamir (female)
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
There was a bit of a shuffle to the race lineup after I had completed conceptual sketches for all the intended races, and the development team felt the planned catfolk race was both too generic and too redundant with the other beast races, and decided a beautiful but demonic race might be a better offer. The product of a forbidden angel/demon tryst and exiled from the plane to the mortal realm, the Kalamir are a bit of a pariah race... but also perhaps the race most subject to (quite literal) change (lorewise) in the future.

Eh, personally if there's no anthro cat or dog race I find most games lose out on a HUGE subset of players that prefer the neko, or humanoid anthro character designs. All them weeaboos and furries. Haha!
Nevertheless this is a pretty cool concept! Kind of reminds me of what happens if a Tiefling, Drow, and shark had a baby. LOL

We have a neko race, as well as a lizard race and a race that kinda resembles bears/wolves/sabertooth tigers/badgers/wolverines :b I'll be posting them tomorrow - I feel like they'll sort of be like RedXIII from FFVII, in which people who prefer dogs see him as doglike, and people who prefer cats see him as catlike, except it might go so far as to apply to people who like ursines and big mustelids as well :b.

*nods* We tried to do what we could to avoid making something too generic - after all, we were replacing the catfolk -because- they were too generic. My original concept for this race was actually much more monstrous/twisted/uncanny valley, but the dev team wanted a "sexy" race (to kind of fill the elf trope look, as it were). I think it sort of works lorewise, too - their demonic aspects are more obvious, but they get their sort of inhuman perfect beauty from the angel side of their heritage.

But yeah, the protruding bone "horns"/"wings" were inspired by the devs asking me to keep her almost entirely humanoid, but "do something around the shoulder area" to make her look unique. I had a friend once who could literally protrude her scapula/shoulder blades like wings from her back (it was freaky :b), and it sorta inspired this :b
