For those that don’t know, I recently started a gofundme in hopes of obtaining top surgery for myself. So far, I’ve been overwhelmed with the response, considering I didn’t expect much of one to begin with. Any donations and reblogs would be greatly appreciated, as I can use all the help I can get. You can read more details here on my donation page.

"For transgender people, the surgery required to align their bodies with their gender identity is a necessity, not an option – in most, if not all cases, it can be life saving. I am no exception to this rule.
My name is Mortimer. Funny name aside, I assume I’m not too much different than most people – I aim to live a happy, healthy life. I work a part time job taking care of dogs at a local doggy day care to pay rent, I draw, I love to play video games and read comics whenever I can get my hands on either of them, and while all of those things keep me pretty content for the most part, there’s still a large disconnect between my identity and how people perceive me… Which is why I’m writing up this campaign. Although some people may consider surgery of this nature a cosmetic choice, gender affirming surgery like this could quite literally save my life – at the very least increase my quality of life tenfold and allow me to be feel comfortable in my own skin.
Specifically, I am a female to male transman. What this means is that, although I was assigned female at birth, I have never quite identified as the gender I was assigned. For as long as I can remember, I have felt male and it wasn’t until my college years when I heard about trans people that something clicked – I realized I was transgender. Ever since then, I have been striving to transition to the man I know I am – receiving gender therapy to address depression due to dysphoria, changing my legal name, and starting hormones, all expenses that, unfortunately, are out of pocket for myself and other trans people due to limited healthcare coverage in my area and across the country.
This is where (hopefully) you come in. Due to the awful economy and the limitations that chronic depression places on me, most, if not all of my money has been going to keeping myself afloat and paying for my hormones and other medical expenses. Living paycheck to paycheck, I have not had anything extra to save toward a surgery that would be the final step in my transition – a surgery that would allow me to be physically active again. It would also remove the awful reality of having to bind for hours on end for the sake of both my physical and mental well being, a practice that is meant to be a temporary step in transition and has potential cause future health problems such as costochondritis (rib inflammation) and even deformation of ribs if not kept in check. Any help that is given toward my goal will be greatly appreciated, as it will be a step toward living a happier, healthier life and moving on to bigger and better things (See: going back to college to finish my degree in studio art among other plans like taking up a sport in my spare time).
For my goal, I ask for $8000, all of which will be going toward my surgery and the travel expenses that said surgery will entail. The total cost of surgery alone, which can be found on Dr. Garramone’s website , will total to $6,900. The remaining $1,100 will pay for gas, food, and the hotel expenses (as I will have to stay in Florida for 6-8 days for after care).
Again, any and all help is appreciated, and if you can’t donate, please consider spreading the word. I would be ecstatic if I could confirm a surgery date by the end of this year."

You're not alone in this <3.. I've recently discovered I'm transgender as well (FtM), and have very much considered starting hormones, though it would be once I got out of my current living situation and was on my own (still live with the rents unfortunately, and starting hormones while here would be dangerous because my mother is pretty religious..) I would donate if I could, but instead I will help spread the word for you, my friend. From one EBT to another
