anthrocon is the biggest and best run. some people prefer going to a smaller convention their first time. Texas furry fiesta is a mid sized con in Feb. Theres conventions held throughout the whole year so you might just pick one when you have free time.If you only go to one though I`d say AC is the one to go to if location isnt an issue.
Might also find http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Fabuland_Figures amusing too then.

Sorry to Necro the post, but I have to comment. This IS an elevator from Anthrocon, just not the ones I attended. Those were the infamous "Bungee-vators" that barely worked. To simulate THOSE, you need to add two more people in fursuits, one person with just a tail, and have everyone look slightly motion sick. :)
