Thanks so much for the kindly words :)
Admittedly it was something of an exchange of ideas between me and
tiamet64. He came up with the fusions (with some suggestions from me), I simply played with the designs to the best of my abilities. The biggest challenge was actually the layout and colors.
For the layout, I wanted a fixed canvas/border to keep the drawings related to one another no matter how long I took between drawings. The fixed canvas made it so I didn't have to get too crazy with detailing the backround, but at the same time it meant that gigantic characters like Water Dragon Enoch here and Ninetails Japhet from before were very tricky to pose out without robbing the characters of their iconic hugeness.
As for colors, if you're familiar with either game at all, you'd realize right away how fusing their two styles is such a challenge: Okami is a very colorful and detailed game inspired by old watercolor/sumi-e paintings. Off, on the other hand, is a beautifully sketchy and dark style that's incredibly sparse in its use of colors, using said colors as symbolic cues and to emphasize more important scenes, such as boss fights.
Balancing both styles was indeed a challenge, if a rather fun one. I wanted to keep the brushwork and dramatic flair of Okami while taking cues from Off to go minimalistic with the colors, both to keep the characters as recognizable as possible (no one in Off has canonical skin colors, for one!) while still making clear who is representing who. True, a few characters (like Water Dragon Enoch here) may not truly have much in common with the characters they are fused with in terms of their story, but it's still fascinating to at least think of how they *do* relate to each other aside from just visually.
.....in other words, it did take a bit to develop these, but once the idea for how it's going to go is clear, finishing the pics themselves was not that hard. And yes, I had a good deal of fun with these :)
